Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (3 days)

Overview

This regulated Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF), is a comprehensive three-day qualification designed to provide participants with the highest level of First Aid training.

It specifically aims to equip all learners with the skills and knowledge to deal with a wide range of first aid emergencies with confidence, promptly, safely, and effectively. This qualification is crucial as it meets the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations for workplaces where a first aid risk assessment identifies a need for qualified first aiders.

The qualification is comprised of two units: “Emergency First Aid in the Workplace” and “Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace”. It requires a minimum of 18 hours spread over at least three days in the classroom. While ideally run over three consecutive days, there is flexibility to accommodate specific needs, provided the course is completed within 10 weeks of starting.

The syllabus covers an extensive range of subjects, including legalities, responsibilities, and reporting; assessment of the situation; dealing with an unresponsive casualty; resuscitation and AED awareness; choking; control of bleeding; shock, which includes Anaphylaxis; fractures and spinal injuries; heart attacks; head injuries; sprains and strains; poisoning; bandaging; eye injuries; chest injuries; asthma; diabetes; stroke; burns; and epilepsy.

A maximum of 12 students are allowed on this course, and all candidates must be a minimum of 14 years of age to qualify.
