This regulated Level 3 Award in Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF), is designed to equip learners with the vital skills to recognise and effectively treat life-threatening anaphylactic reactions.
The course requires 6 contact hours in the classroom, The syllabus covers a comprehensive range of subjects, including describing anaphylaxis and its triggers, identifying life-threatening problems, identifying key features of adrenaline-auto injectors, conducting an initial assessment using the ABCDE approach, demonstrating a recovery position and resuscitation for adult and/or child, recognising the need for and preparing adrenaline-auto injectors, demonstrating their safe use with a training device, and handing over the casualty to a medical professional.
This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement, with annual refresher courses recommended. A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course, and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.
